Description

Loopy Dungeon is a card game where you must create a loop to defeat waves of enemies. 🃏♣️

This game was created in 4 days for the GMTK Jam 2025 with the theme "Loop" by Veack and LePlacard


We struggled a bit with balancing the difficulty of the game, and we didn’t expect a card game to be this tricky to develop! There were lots of ideas and polish we would have loved to add, which leaves us a bit frustrated with the final result of this jam.

Amazing ideas implemented in this game ! I feel like the concept has a lot of potential !

I played up to round 40.

BUG : 

After a few rounds, I only gain 1 play (and sometime max energy) per rounds (it was arround 8th round I think).

I think there is a bug in the damage stacking mechanic. I had the rampage trinket and was playing a loop with only 1 scourge. My damge should be exactly 1 + ((loop_count -1) * 2). But it does not work exactly like that. One of the damages stack (either from the trinket or the scourge itself) does not add up when killing an enemy.

There is also some troubles with the damage stacking with the consecutive attack trinket (I donc recall its name)

IMPROVEMENTS :

Autoplay feature.

After round 15-20 the game does not change, all rounds look the same. Here are some ideas to improve that : add bosses, make 2 or more enemies play at the same time.

Possibility to chose how to pay the loop start (with "play token" or with health).

When adding a lot of cards to your loop (more than 4 cards), the card visualization and management becomes complicated.

First shop is never free.
Must spend a play even if loop stays the same.
Getting 2 or less plays basic traps you in the same build after like round 3ish.

Great game buggy and not quite finished.

Ability to lock items in shop for a build would be nice.

Amazing game!!! 

The rogue like gameplay is really fun even though I struggle to have enough money to buy good stuff. 

Another thing is that I get stuck in a battle with a bat where I couldn't do enough damage to overcome the healing and there was no exit.

However, the game is really cool.
